requesting the wrong type of music

It’s important to know what kind of club you are in, when requesting music.
If you want to hear hip hop, you shouldn’t be in a club that plays all electro.
Nobody wants this to happen.
Plenty of bars and clubs will also have theme nights from time to time.
Nights like 80s night, country night, Milli Vanilli night, etc.
On these nights, the music is not up for debate.
80s music is music from the 80s, not artists born in the 80s.
So, don’t even bother asking for the Black Eyed Peas (even if they do copy+paste 80s music).
Also, aside from theme nights, some events have general guidelines for music.
For example, if you are at a wedding, the DJ has been instructed on what to play.
So don’t request “She’s A Freak” or “Blowjob Betty” and ask to dedicate it to the bride.
And for you young business folk, temps, and interns out there, here’s a tip…
A corporate event or holiday party is NOT like a party at your frat house.
So don’t request Waka Flocka, Gucci, or any of that shit from the DJ.
You’re not going to get a raise by being able to do the Dougie.

I love you. I wish I could carry your articles to my shows on a big stone slab like moses, and shove them in peoples faces when they ask for stupid things. Keep being awesome =)

The worst is when the person claims they know everyone there or makes a claim to have polled everyone and they just KNOW everyone wants to hear whatever wrong kind of music request they are making.

All i get is, while i’m playing 120-130ish music is… “got any lil wayne” get asked that at least five times a night… and then people show me songs on their iphone that i should have.. Well if you have it on you’re phone then you can listen to it whenever you want, enjoy dancing to music that you don’t listen to on a regular basis….
